Find Out if Your Rights Have Been Violated by NSA Spying.

Vermont law protects your right to keep phone records private. If you are concerned that a telecommunications company has illegally disclosed your information, contact the company directly to ask whether they have released your records without your permission.

Customer service for Verizon, the major telecommunications company in Vermont, may be directly reached at: 800-870-9999.

Do not let phone companies dismiss your concerns simply by citing national security issues. These companies may not stone-wall your efforts to protect your rights. Telecommunication companies are required to implement a formal dispute resolution process to address customer complaints. For more on the dispute resolution process, and how to take advantage of the process click here.

If the telecommunication companies are not responsive to your questions or concerns, you may file a consumer complaint directly with the Department of Public Service via the Department's on-line consumer complaint form. You may also contact the Department via phone at: 802-828-2811, or via e-mail at: publicservice@vermont.gov.

Please let us know if the Department fails to address your complaint.
