“The people of Vermont deserve leadership, security, and results. With your help, I'll bring the vision, passion, and courage to the governor's office that Vermont needs.” |

Here are some of the values and lessons I have learned from working with Vermonters: |
| |
| |
Vermont will remain strong by being resourceful |
| |
| |
We have led the nation in human rights, the environment, and strong communities. Washington will not solve our problems. We must find our own answers or risk becoming like everywhere else. |
| |
| |
You have to get real to achieve results |
| |
| |
Vermonters deserve honesty. You can't fix the tractor until you know what is broken. Even if the news is bad, I will tell it like it is. If we are honest about the challenges, we can improve health care, energy, security, and our economy. |
| |
| |
Together we get things done |
| |
| |
Nobody has a monopoly on the truth. That is why a real leader gets people together, talks out differences, proposes solutions and searches for innovative answers. That's the way I worked in the Senate, and that's the way I will work as governor. |
| |
| |
Politics is not a career—it is a way to improve people's lives |
| |
| |
As a senator I stood for what I believed. The skills I have learned outside of politics can help us meet our challenges now. My only ambition in being Vermont's governor is to restore trust and leadership, to secure a promising future for our children and families, and to develop a new partnership with our communities and businesses. |
| |
| |
The choices we make today will shape our children's and grandchildren's world |
| |
| |
On the farm I knew that my contribution mattered. I knew that my parents always worked with our future in mind. We need to restore that partnership between generations, working hard and together for enduring common good. |
| |
| |
| |
If you agree with me that we need competent and visionary leadership in Montpelier — and if I have convinced you that I will be such a leader — then YOU need to step up to the plate. |
| |
| |
| |
Lots of people say that Jim Douglas cannot be beaten. But if you want something different, then do something about it. Join my campaign. Be my ambassador to your friends and co-workers. Write me a check. I can't win this alone — I can only win it if folks like you decide that Vermont deserves and is going to have Scudder Parker sitting in the Governor's office next January. |
